Breva
BREVA GENEVE is a Swiss watch brand born at the intersection of Italian elegance and Swiss precision, founded in 2010 on the shores of Lake Como by a young entrepreneur with a passion for horology and innovation. The brand name itself is drawn from the Breva — the mythical wind of Lake Como, which sweeps southward from the mountains across the lake in the afternoon hours, beloved by sailors and romanticised in the literature and culture of the surrounding Lombardy region. That wind, with its combination of natural force and elemental precision, is the metaphor at the heart of what BREVA set out to make: watches that measure not merely time but the forces and conditions of the world around the wearer. The first chapter of the brand's history was defined by watches equipped with exceptional meteorological complications — barometers, altimeters, and anemometers integrated into mechanical wristwatch cases — positioned for modern explorers who required the same rigor in measuring time and the elements. These pioneering instruments were received with critical recognition, and the barometric tourbillon complications in particular established BREVA as a technically daring independent. The brand went quiet for a period before returning in 2025 under the leadership of Julien Haenny — a watchmaking professional of over twenty years who previously served as CEO of Anonimo and Vulcain, and before that held senior roles at Jaeger-LeCoultre, HYT (Head of Marketing and Communications), TechnoMarine, and MGI Luxury Group. Haenny brings hands-on operational leadership, marketing depth, and a comprehensive understanding of the independent watch market, making the 2025 relaunch the most professionally structured chapter in the brand's history.
The 2025 relaunch is organised around the BREVA Classic collection and its inaugural reference, the Segreto di Lario — Italian for 'the secret of the lake,' a name that evokes the timeless mystique of Lake Como and the brand's Italian-Swiss cultural identity. The collection reinterprets BREVA's founding DNA — the precision measuring instruments of historical explorers and adventurers — through a refined contemporary lens, with complications that reference barometric and navigational heritage without reproducing them literally. The team assembled for the relaunch is exceptional. Movement development is led by Jean-François Mojon and his company Chronode — the Geneva movement engineering firm he founded in 2005 that has developed calibres for MB&F, Fabergé, Harry Winston, and many others, and whose designs have won over 10 GPHG awards including a personal Best Watchmaker Designer prize in 2010. The Segreto di Lario's exclusive manual-winding calibre, developed specifically for BREVA GENEVE, features 29 jewels, two barrels providing a 7-day power reserve, and finishing throughout to the highest standard: sandblasted bridges, circular satin, polished chamfers, and Geneva stripes. Case design is by Fabrice Gonet and Olivier Leu of EDGE Design — a studio with over 25 years of luxury watch experience, recognised as one of the sector's finest design partners. Cases are crafted by Aurélien Bouchet of AB Concept, specialists in exceptional precious metal case construction. Dials are produced by Cadranor, renowned for flawlessly finished surfaces and light-capturing textures. Hands are by GMG Composants. Leather straps are hand-finished by Cinturini di Arignano, near Turin in Italy — a detail that reinforces the Italian-Swiss cultural bridge at the core of the brand identity.
The Segreto di Lario is offered in four variants: Meridian Gold (titanium, CHF 46,000), Sunset (titanium, CHF 46,000), Slate Grey (titanium, CHF 46,000), and Serenade Blue (rose gold, limited edition, CHF 68,000 before taxes). The titanium variants are distinguished by their respective dial palettes — Meridian Gold with its warm golden tones, Sunset with its warm amber and apricot gradation, Slate Grey with its cool industrial understatement. The Serenade Blue rose gold edition is the most precious and most limited, its deep blue dial evoking the lake at dusk against the warmth of rose gold case metal. Sales are handled through a reservation system and a network of authorised retailers. BREVA GENEVE's registered company is Les Instruments du Temps SA, with offices at Rue du Rhône 118, CH-1204 Geneva.
