PÖHLMANN-BRESAN

Founded in 2021 by Lukas Pöhlmann and Josef Bresan — two Dresden-based watchmakers who previously worked under Marco Lang at Lang & Heyne. Josef trained at Wempe Glashütte and later studied mechanical engineering; Lukas completed his apprenticeship at Lang & Heyne. Originally called Junge Uhrmacher, they renamed to their surnames in 2023.

Their debut Prestige watch features a hand-wound JU26-01 calibre with central seconds, second hacking, and a 39-hour power reserve. Most recently they collaborated with Jochen Benzinger on a unique piece featuring a rose-engine-turned barleycorn dial in cobalt blue lacquer.

The JU26-01 calibre inside the Prestige takes a French LIP 26 ébauche as its starting point, heavily reworked into a distinctly three-dimensional architecture: open bridges elevate the wheel train above the movement, the balance sits deep within its own openworked bridge with 14ct gold eccentric regulation and adjusting weights, and every surface — black-polished screws, frosted bridges, mirror anglage — is finished entirely by hand in the Dresden atelier. The debut Prestige launched in two 24-piece colourways, Nachtgrau and Nachtblau, priced around €16,750 excluding VAT and both series sold through. The pair's most significant collaboration to date paired that same JU26-01 architecture with Jochen Benzinger, one of Germany's most celebrated guillocheurs, who brought his rose-engine-turned barleycorn guilloché to a unique piece finished in cobalt-blue lacquer — uniting Dresden's Lang & Heyne lineage with Pforzheim's engraving tradition in a single watch. Having met more than a decade earlier as apprentices under Marco Lang, Pöhlmann and Bresan represent something increasingly common in German independent watchmaking: a second generation trained directly by the first, now building on that inheritance under its own name rather than simply continuing the house style they learned it from.
