GUEBLY is a Geneva-based independent watch brand born from the vision of a collector — known publicly only by the initials AK — who spent years immersed in the world of watches not through the watchmaking industry but through objects themselves: observing them, repairing them, touching them, and traveling the world in search of them. This total, tactile, personal immersion built an international network of collectors, artisans, and experts, and eventually led to a singular conviction: that the only way to honour watches at the level they deserved was to create one. The brand's name draws from the Ghibli — a warm, dry wind from southern Europe and North Africa, known across the Maghreb and Mediterranean as a scorching afternoon force that makes going outside impossible and encourages families to gather indoors. For the founder, the Guebly wind is inseparable from childhood memory: 'As children, this wind encouraged us to stay with our family during these hours, creating precious memories of conviviality and closeness.' The metaphor that flows from this into the brand's philosophy is precise and beautiful: just as the Ghibli shapes sand dunes with a meticulous precision that appears effortless from a distance but is in fact the accumulation of millions of specific acts, so each GUEBLY watch is shaped by the accumulated, obsessive attention of multiple artisans whose finest details may not be visible from the wrist but define the quality of the object. The brand is based at Rue du Rhône 118 in Geneva — the same address as H. Moser & Cie — and was built from 2018 as a deeply human enterprise, with the founder describing its artisan community as a 'second family.'

The artisan network assembled for GUEBLY's first watch is a roll-call of some of the finest names in Swiss watchmaking craft. Case machining is by Voutilainen & Cattin SA — the prestigious case manufacturer that also produces cases for Kari Voutilainen himself and for other leading independents, guaranteeing a level of precision and finish that sets the tone for the entire piece. Movement machining is by Horocraft, a specialist movement components manufacturer. Movement decoration and bevelling is by Nathalie Jean-Louis, whose hand-finishing work appears on movements at the very top of independent watchmaking. The retrograde appliques in grand feu champlevé enamel — the most visually distinctive element of the dial — are made by Maëlle Constant, an enameller whose champlevé technique represents one of the most demanding dial crafts in European horology: the process involves carving recesses into the metal dial base, filling them with successive layers of enamel, firing and polishing to a perfectly flat surface where the metal partitions and coloured enamel areas exist in the same plane.

Industrial design is by Eric Giroud — the Geneva-based industrial designer whose case designs have appeared on watches by MB&F, Hublot, Jacob & Co, Urwerk, and many others, and who brings structural logic and aesthetic coherence to the project. The engineering office function is served by Peter Christopher. Straps are by the Jean Rousseau workshop, a Paris-based leather atelier known for its work with major luxury houses. Dial snail guilloché is hand-executed. The movement is made entirely of Grade 5 titanium — plates, bridges, and components throughout — in a material choice that simultaneously reduces weight, improves anti-magnetism, and creates a unified material identity between movement and case.

The inaugural reference is the Prologue — a souscription piece limited to 20 watches, each personally and individually finished by the artisans in the GUEBLY network. The Calibre 21.31 is a self-winding movement with a 5N yellow gold micro-rotor, beating at 28,800 A/h (4Hz) with a 70-hour power reserve, 35 jewels, and 217 total components. The display is a regulator-style layout — hours and minutes from the centre, with the visual signature being a retrograde seconds hand at 6 o'clock that sweeps across a 120° arc every 30 seconds before snapping back to its starting position. The retrograde applique itself is a champlevé grand feu enamel piece by Maëlle Constant, hand-bevelled and finished individually. The dial carries a traditional snail (colimaçon) guilloché pattern in blue with Super-LumiNova applied to the hour and minute track. Hour and minute hands, the retrograde applique, and the logo applique are all in hand-decorated Grade 5 titanium, finished with perlage, satin, micro-blasting, drawn lines, and manual chamfering. The case is 42mm × 10.56mm in Grade 5 titanium. Water resistance is 10 ATM (100 metres). The strap is a quick-release blue grained calfskin with blue rubber interior and velcro closure, secured by a Grade 5 titanium buckle. The CH1, designated as a 'timeless object designed to be worn every day,' follows the Prologue as the second reference. Both pieces are available through GUEBLY's authorised retail network and the Geneva address by appointment.
