Minim Watches

Minim Watches was founded by Chloe, who was born and raised in Hong Kong before moving to the United Kingdom in 2019 — a relocation that marked the real beginning of her horological journey. Though she had always admired watches and the elegance of watchmaking, it wasn't until settling in the UK that she began exploring horology in real depth, drawn especially to traditional design houses like Breguet and A. Lange & Söhne, and to the refined proportions and timeless elegance of dress watches from the 1970s through the 1990s. Working in finance gave her the chance to see a great many watches on a daily basis, but it was the microbrand and independent watchmaking scene that truly captured her — creative, daring, and free to challenge convention in a way larger houses rarely are. Wanting to leave her own mark on the watch collector community, and encouraged by a conversation with a fellow collector and brand owner who challenged her directly — why wait for the future when you can start now — Chloe decided to build a brand of her own, combining classic inspiration and traditional craftsmanship with a modern, playful twist.

The Minim name and identity are built with the same care given to the watches themselves. The brand takes its inspiration from the Chinese character 旻, meaning 'Autumn' — the season during which the first ideas for the brand took shape, carrying with it a feeling of change and reflection. The wordmark goes beyond simple branding: MINIM is a mirrored palindrome, reading the same forwards and backwards, evoking symmetry, balance, and harmony, and directly capturing the brand's founding idea of taking simplicity and transforming it into refined elegance — a piece of traditional symbolism translated into a thoroughly contemporary design language. Minim describes its mission as bridging modern precision and aesthetics with luscious colours, fresh design, and spirited soul, while still honouring traditional craft — dressy yet contemporary, made for those who see beauty in the details. In an age when most people simply glance at a phone or a smartwatch to check the time, Minim's stated invitation is to pause: to appreciate the artistry of mechanical timekeeping, to bring elegance and joy into everyday ritual, and to embrace not just function but form.

The MN01 is Minim's debut model, and the collection is built around a distinctive naming convention: each dial colourway carries a Cantonese character and romanised name reflecting its palette, sitting alongside the shared MN01 case reference. The launch lineup includes MN01 Zing1 晶 ('crystal'), MN01 Laan4 蘭 ('orchid'), and MN01 Bik1 碧 ('jade-green'), each offered at GBP 1,199, alongside a Chinese New Year limited edition, the MN01 CNY LE 1/50 Giu1 嬌, capped at just 50 numbered pieces to mark the occasion. A collaboration piece, the MINIM x MIC MN01, extends the collection through a partnership with fellow watch community MIC. Pre-orders for the debut MN01 collection opened for March–April 2026 delivery, positioning Minim among the newest wave of UK-based, founder-led microbrands bringing classical dress-watch proportions and Cantonese cultural identity together in a single, colour-driven collection.
