Neotype Watches
NEOTYPE takes its name from a term borrowed from taxonomic nomenclature — a specimen chosen to serve as the new reference point for an entire category — and states its founding position with unusual directness: 'We do not create homages; we design watches of their time, for those who value accuracy over showmanship.' Rather than reviving or reinterpreting a specific historical reference, NEOTYPE's stated mission is design accuracy and purpose: applying industrial design discipline and a deep respect for functional style to build watches that respond to the world in which they were created, conceived to endure rather than to flatter nostalgia. The brand describes its own personality as 'a modern act of resistance' — steering deliberately away from noise, glitter, spectacle, and fleeting trends in favour of emotion expressed through detail, mastered technique, and restrained strength: an elegance that does not seek attention but commands respect. That restraint is framed as a specifically French sensibility — 'French audace as a driving force' — claiming no borrowed heritage, freely drawing on the past only to shape the present and future, in what NEOTYPE calls the purest tradition of French creativity: bold, free, functional, and singular. The brand follows a school of pragmatic design in which form is strictly driven by function, and every component — case, dial, strap, buckle, packaging — is conceived and developed in-house, treating design consistency across the entire ecosystem of the watch as essential to a genuine watchmaking identity.
NEOTYPE watches are entirely designed in France and built from carefully sourced materials — 316L steel, FKM rubber, sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel — manufactured by specialist partners across China, Hong Kong, and Japan, before final casing and regulation of the mechanical models is completed by a partner workshop in the Jura, the historic heart of French watchmaking; quartz models are largely assembled in Hong Kong before final assembly and full technical and aesthetic quality control take place in France. Every watch carries a 24-month international warranty, and the brand deliberately favours small, numbered production runs over volume, prioritising quality, exclusivity, and originality, alongside a stated commitment to constant renewal and reinvention rather than a static, unchanging catalogue.
The current LM02 Type C collection comprises five references sharing the same case architecture and FKM rubber strap fitting: Panda and Reverse Panda (contrasting black-and-white sub-dial arrangements, in either direction of contrast), Green and Blue (colour-driven dial variants), and PVD BGW9 (a fully blacked-out PVD case paired with a black dial), priced between €630 and €680. All current references carry Old Radium-toned lume treatment for a warm, vintage-adjacent glow without directly reproducing any specific historical watch. NEOTYPE also maintains an Archives collection of prior limited editions no longer in current production, alongside a dedicated FKM rubber strap and bracelet accessories line sold separately.
