Thomas Prescher

Founded in 2002 in Ipsach on the shores of Lake Biel — a scenic corner of Switzerland near the Jura mountains with centuries of watchmaking tradition. Thomas Prescher entered the German Navy at 19 and served six years as an officer; upon leaving in 1991, he spent over a year teaching himself to repair old clocks and watches before earning the single apprenticeship at IWC available that year — completing the four-year programme in only three, as Switzerland's top student.

He then worked at Audemars Piguet's German service centre and four years at Gübelin in Lucerne specialising in antique and complicated watch restoration. By the time he founded his own atelier, he was already well known in collector circles for restoring complicated masterpieces by Breguet, Earnshaw, Girard-Perregaux, Lange, Arnold, Patek Philippe, Urban Jürgensen, LeRoy, Mudge, and Tompion. He joined AHCI as a candidate member in 2003. That year at Baselworld he unveiled a double-axis tourbillon pocket watch and the first Tempusvivendi — a double retrograde complication originating in the 18th century, in which a figure on an engraved or enamelled dial moves its extremities to display hours and minutes when a hidden button in the crown is pressed. At Baselworld 2004, he presented the world premiere Tourbillon Trilogy: single, double, and triple-axis tourbillons with in-house constant-force movements — including the world's first flying triple-axis tourbillon wristwatch. Bespoke individual tourbillons remain available outside the Trilogy.

Current collections include: Tourbillon Trilogy, Tempusvivendi, and The Mysterious Project (anniversary). All timepieces are fine, handmade, and bespoke.
