Zentier

Zentier is an independent microbrand founded in late 2020 by Morten Loewe, a former World, European, and British Open Latin American Dance-Sport Champion whose transition from professional dancer to watch designer is one of the more unusual origin stories in contemporary independent watchmaking. Loewe draws direct lines between his two disciplines: striving for perfection, understanding and materialising the concept of time, and creating perfect harmony are the principles he describes as having governed his dancing life from youth, and they are the same forces that drive his approach to watches. He launched Zentier with the deliberate intent to start at the very beginning and work his way upward — a journey brand philosophy he invites his customers to share — and the brand's commercial tagline, 'stylish watches and luxury accessories for the modern gentleman,' captures the accessible, considered aesthetic he brings to each model. The brand is operated from Hong Kong, sells internationally through its website with made-to-order crocodile and Epsom leather strap options, and maintains a small, engaged community of followers across social platforms.

The Zentier Chronograph was the debut model, launched in December 2021, establishing the brand's foundations in a series of dial executions including 1903 (a racing green homage), Vintage White, 5.01 (black), Cosmic Latte, and Chocolate — all at $349. The Z2 followed as the brand's core everyday automatic three-hander: a versatile, clean-dialled watch available in multiple colourways including Carbon, Black, Blue, Lagoon, and Khaki ($499) as well as special editions including the Z2 Khaki (with a textured dial, $549), the JZ Edition 2 in Orange, and sold-out Limited Editions in Khaki Green, Purple, and the Qatar Edition. The Reverence is a more refined dress-sport line featuring higher-specification materials including aventurine stone dials — the Reverence Aventurine Bleu ($649) is the standout current offering, alongside the Indigo, Salmon, and Spectre variants (several sold out). The Z5 Ultra Thin is the brand's most elegant model: an ultra-slim dress watch in Burgundy, Grey, and White executions at $849. The Time Traveller is a separately marketed entry-level line at $229, available in Black/Grey and Green.

The Sauté is Zentier's signature and most technically ambitious line — its name taken directly from the French dance term for a jump or leap, a nod to Morten Loewe's career as a champion dancer, and perfectly describing the complication at the watch's heart. The Sauté executes the jumping hour in the traditional guichets fashion — just like the emblematic Cartier Tank à Guichets — with a rectangular jumping hour aperture at 12 o'clock and a dragging minutes display on a rotating disc below it, all within a compact 36mm × 10.7mm cushion-shaped polished stainless steel case with a 44mm lug-to-lug distance. The movement is the Seagull ST-1721, an automatic with an additional jumping hour mechanism, beating at 21,600 vph with a 40-hour power reserve and 20 jewels; an additional see-through caseback is included alongside the standard solid steel back. What makes the Sauté line exceptional is Loewe's commitment to natural stone dials: each watch uses a piece of genuine semi-precious stone, meaning no two are identical. The original Sauté launched with Malachite dials — the vivid green stone in a limited run; this was followed by the Mosaic Black Opal edition (limited to 37 pieces), the Meteorite edition (limited to 25 pieces), and the Purple Jade ($1,080). A collaboration with Watch Ho & Co. — a Hong Kong-based watch-collecting community — produced the Lapis Sauté Mt. Fuji Edition: inspired by Jackie Ho's first encounter with the beauty of Mt. Fuji during the launch of the Malachite Sauté, its natural lapis lazuli stone dial evokes the vastness of the night sky, limited to 88 pieces and priced at $1,088. A made-to-order service and international shipping complete the offering.
